Darlinghurst - Hub Hyde Park

Curved glass is a complex material and Wellfix was engaged by the architect due to their experience from previous work involving technical complexity and still having the capability to produce a high end product. Wellfix was able to show the architect how to incorporate the curved glass features and strengths into the design and create a structure in the most efficient process but still keeping in line with the heritage listed building.

Timing was critical on this project and with the technical complexity of the project including working with the large scale of glass and heavy weight of the glass, all components had to be accurate and work seamlessly together. There was also the added pressure to ensure the project remained in line with the features of the heritage building but also to set this project apart from others.

The project had to be completed in a manner to minimise demolition, alterations and new fixings of the heritage building which Wellfix adhered to. Some adjustments to partitions were required on site to resolve junction details which Wellfix resolved and ensured all works complied with the heritage report. Wellfix also had to ensure that all new materials had to match the existing colours, finishes, profile and properties. Wellfix adhered to all elements of the heritage report and the installation of the curved glazing to the rotunda did not result in the need for repairs to any original fabric.
